Dispatching in Adverse Conditions
This course is delivered over a 16-hour period consisting of two 8-hour
days. This course steps through a review of the applicable NERC EOP Standards and is intended to provide system personnel with an explanation
and understanding of Bulk Electric Power system operations during adverse
weather conditions. It provides a unique opportunity to earn NERC CEHs
related to both NERC Standards and simulation. A review of
NERC EOP Standards that include: EOP-004, EOP-005, EOP-006, EOP-008, EOP-010,
and EOP-011 is provided. The course then includes a brief overview of System Operator
general areas of responsibility and discussion of natural disasters
that have the potential to impact the operation of the BES including hurricanes, ice storms, earthquakes, wildfires and flooding, and geo-magnetic disturbances. Each disaster discussion is
followed by simulation activities dealing with the associated disaster.
