Preventing Errors in Emergency Conditions Online

This 16-hour on-line class is designed for real-time System Operating Personnel, Generating Plant personnel, and Operations Support personnel. The class is intended to expand beyond initial training in working through emergency situations. In addition, participants will be provided with extensive details of human error and how to reduce/prevent it. The participants will be required to utilize their knowledge of system operations and apply this knowledge in simulated scenarios. The class will be a combination of lecture and group activities. The major portion of the class will be comprised of exercises where individuals must work through operational situations. The scenarios presented will deal with various system events.



Module Objectives:

  • Define risks and manage resources in addressing emergency conditions
  • Describe the process to communicate intent, voice the intent, and resolve conflict
  • Describe process for resolving conflict for improving the decision-making process
  • Describe how decisions get made and why they are not always perfect
  • Identify how to recognize ineffective teamwork and determine when to intervene during emergency conditions
